Analog & Digital Photography

Today's post will complete* at least a quick look at my camera collection but not all of them. There are a few that I'm leaving for a surprise. Not for the shock of showing you something fantastic but more from needing some time to locate the missing ones in a myriad of packed up boxes in the basement. I am also changing the format a little since I have noticed that on mobile devices it seems to leave large gaps between the cameras and text. Rather than solving the issue I have decided to ignore it for now and just post the pictures differently. Here are the cameras! The Samurai X3.0 is a great fully automatic half frame wonder with a power zoom lens. It looks much more like an older camcorder and handles about the same which is not a bad thing. For any who do not know what a half frame camera does think twice the pictures per roll of film 48 instead of 24, 72 instead of 36, etc. It is 35mm so the film is easy to find and provides decent pictures even with the half-...

Yes I know, the first post was called Introduction not Camera Collection 1.0. We can consider that a minor oversight on my part. Today is a continuation of my collection of cameras. Also added to the page are links to  Instagram ,  Flickr ,  Lomograph y, and another blog I have on  Project Management . The last one is probably not of any interest in regards to photography unless of course, you have a photography project. Today I want to introduce you to my Soviet-era cameras. I have often heard about quality issues of the communist built cameras but have not had any issues with mine. They often feature very good glass and the metal ones offer a solid feel, while the plastic cameras are the most affordable and can still produce quality shots. On to the cameras! The Praktica LTL 3 is one of my favourite cameras to use.  The weight feels just right, heavy, and the focus on the Pentacon lens is smooth and fast compared to some of the others I have. ...

Here it is. I have finally begun my photography blog. After several years of collecting cameras, multiple film purchases, purchasing some digital cameras that I just had to have, developing my own film, scanning, and purchasing more darkroom equipment than anyone without a darkroom should possibly have, the blog has begun. How this will work is with each new post I will go through a camera and all its features, test the camera out in the field, go through some of the photos produced by the camera, for the film cameras we can explore the films used and the development process. I may initially lean on some photos that I have already taken due to time and budget constraints but will attempt to keep those limited to travel photos to keep things interesting. What is going to make this interesting and a little different for you and fun and educational for me is that I am an amateur photographer. I'm not an expert in anything to do with photography.
